Every month, Airbo provides you with suggested topics to communicate to employees as part of your Annual Communications Plan (free template). The topics are based on hundreds of data points regarding what our customers communicate each month of the year.
The holiday season is almost upon us and the new year is just around the corner. With benefit deadlines approaching and year-end housekeeping items to take care of, there’s a lot to keep organized! Here are the six topics we recommend communicating to employees in December.
1. FSA Deadline
FSA funds don’t rollover at the end of the year. Remind employees to use any remaining FSA funds by December 31st, so they don’t lose them.

2. End-of-Year Office Reminders
Take care of end-of-year housekeeping items, like reminding employees about your PTO rollover policy and any days the office will be closed for the holidays. It’s also a good idea to announce the 2020 holiday calendar so employees can start making plans for next year.
3. 2020 Employee Communications Survey
As the year comes to a close, it’s a great time to start planning what you’d like to communicate in 2020. Send a quick survey to your employees to hear what topics they’d like to see in your communications next year.

4. Holiday Party RSVP
Does your office host an annual holiday party? Let employees know the date and time as soon as possible so they can start to plan around it. Send out an invitation and be sure to make it clear if spouses and domestic partners are invited as well.

5. Timely Benefit Spotlights
Stress, loneliness, and financial strain can increase around the holidays. Remind employees about the Employee Assistance Program and how it can help if holiday stress becomes too much. It’s also an excellent time to highlight your telemedicine benefit since many people travel for the holidays. Remind employees the benefit is available if they get sick away from home.
6. Holiday Wellness Tips
The holiday season can be hectic. It can be challenging to keep spending in check and stay on track with healthy habits. Offer employees tips for managing their gift budget, tricks to avoid overindulging, and ideas for incorporating fitness into their holiday plans.
That’s our recommendation of what to communicate in December. We hope this saved you some time so you can get back to celebrating! We wish you and yours a happy and healthy holiday season.
